From time to time, I will be issuing a Story Challenge.

I’ll give out a “Starting Point”; you take it from there, and if you’re happy with the results, submit it to us. Maybe your work, your thoughts, your ideas be “on the air” in a few weeks.
So what I’m calling for is a Sci Fi or Macabre Christmas Story. It might be wondrous; it might be dread, you decide. Deadline will be early November.

PLUS Newly Added! Writers whose work is accepted for our Christmas Extravaganza 2012 will win a (mix) cd that I personally put together for friends and relatives: The Only Christmas Album You’ll Ever Need! (Volume 1- or Volume 2, if you’ve already got volume 1)

Our newest Story Challenge:

With the election coming up, how about a story that comments on our political system? It might be business as usual, or something truly strange- you decide. Deadline “mid September”

Our ongoing Story Challenge:

Start with a Fairy Tale, Fable or well known children’s story. Then re work it and update it into a Science fiction story or a tale of the Macabre- Your story might be DARK, it might be silly; you might turn Jack and the Beanstalk into some sci fi epic set on the moon…

You decide. Write it and send it in. If our crack staff likes it, we’ll build a show around it.

As for length, here’s where it gets tricky. Let’s say minimum 1000 words ( and we’d of course have to group shorter pieces into a themed show with very short stories) maximum approx 8000 words- (due to time constraints of the show).

As you turn these in, please send them in ATTN “Editor/ Fairy Tale”, so we know which challenge you’re answering.

Well that’s it. Have fun. Write down your dreams. You never know when you’ll be able to build a story we can use from them; you never know what you can build up from the mist,,, the haze… the smoke and mirrors!
